The smell burned my nostrils
Looking for beady eyes
I stuck the long handle of the roof rake into the hole under the shed
Questioning my actions and hoping for contact

From an upstairs window
I watch for the skunk
To meander out for night maneuvers
*****
I place a weather radio in the shed
Leaving it on
Hoping to annoy the skunk
Into moving out
*****
I cover the hole
Better to smell decaying skunk
Then be sprayed by one
*****
I begin to wonder
Who is the true trespasser
