One Should Never Apologize for Being Glum

I wanted Fig Newtons for dessert
But found none in the pantry

I settled for dried apricots

It snowed a foot yesterday
But the storm slowed in the night
Allowing the plows to catch up

The boys are chagrined there will be school

I long for the snow to recede
And the birds to return
