A Totem

I began to grow a mustache for mental health awareness
But gave up after two weeks
And got a tattoo instead

Not of a mustache
On the side of my finger
To hold over my lip

Which is a thing

It’s a semicolon on the top of my right wrist
A permanent reminder of temporary feelings

Representing the compound nature of life
A period ends
A semicolon joins
Allowing me to continue
